Michael V. Griffin

Interim Vice President, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Health Sciences Advancement

Mike Griffin was named interim vice president of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Health Sciences Advancement in July 2025. In this role, Mike is responsible for all performance aspects of advancement for the Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, the seven health science colleges, more than 20 research institutes and multiple ambulatory care sites. 

He leads and manages campaigns, programs, projects and activities designed to seek, receive and administer philanthropic contributions that support patient-centered care, research and education across the medical center and health science colleges. This includes transformative principal and major gifts, special events, donor relations, annual giving and others. 

Mike joined Ohio State in December 2021 and most recently served as associate vice president of Medical Advancement. He was responsible for overseeing philanthropic activities for the Wexner Medical Center, the OSUCCC – James and the nationally renowned Ohio State College of Medicine, all of which experienced historic levels of fundraising during his tenure. 

A passionate and personable leader, Mike has gained vast experience in several facets of advancement throughout his career. He previously was chief development officer for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, where he led the university’s largest college to its highest philanthropic totals. Mike also served in major gift and advancement roles at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine and Otterbein University, his alma mater. 

Mike holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Otterbein University.
