
Luiza Newlin-Lukowicz, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President, Corporate and Foundation Engagement
Dr. Luiza Newlin-Lukowicz serves as the Associate Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Engagement at The Ohio State University. In this role, she leads a team that develops strategic, holistic partnerships with industry and private foundations, aligning this work with the priorities
of the President, Provost, Wexner Medical Center, and academic leaders. Dr. Newlin-Lukowicz began her tenure at Ohio State in 2022 as Executive Director of Foundation Relations. Prior to joining Ohio State, she spent seven years at William & Mary in Virginia, where she led a university-wide Corporate & Foundation Relations program.
Previously an academic, Dr. Newlin-Lukowicz is a linguist by training. Her Ph.D. dissertation and numerous publications explored the phonetic expression of ethnic identity in New York City. Her work combined statistically rigorous analyses of nuanced speech features with macro-level insights into population patterns.
Dr. Newlin-Lukowicz moved to the U.S. to pursue an M.A. in linguistics at Eastern Michigan University, followed by a Ph.D. in linguistics from New York University. Her academic career in Poland included a B.A. in French Philology, and a BA and MA in English Philology from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland.
