Engagement Profile: Natasha Kanakkanatt
Natasha Kanakkanatt, Regional Engagement Officer
“I always knew I would be a Buckeye for life. Now I get to help other alumni see that possibility, too. It’s incredibly rewarding.”
Natasha Kanakkanatt graduated from Ohio State in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in public affairs. Her career goal was to land a job with her alma mater within five years. She did it in one. In 2015, The Ohio State University Alumni Association offered her the role of young alumni engagement manager and soon after Natasha was promoted to assistant director. In 2017, she transitioned to the regional engagement team, where she focuses on the Midwest and northeastern United States.
“Alumni relations is an exciting field to work in, and University Advancement gave me that opportunity. Every day I get to meet new people and connect them with Ohio State. There is no end to the amazing collaborations that can happen.”
As regional engagement officer, Natasha helps alumni groups and individuals develop meaningful relationships with the university. Through events, volunteer activities and philanthropic opportunities, she empowers Buckeyes to make an impact on the programs and causes that matter to them.
“Our alumni are everywhere, and I always love hearing their stories, hopes and ideas. My goal is to help them explore an active partnership with their alma mater. What that looks like depends on each person’s interests. We built it together."
Natasha says this collaborative spirit permeates every aspect of Buckeye Nation, and is what drew her to Ohio State as a student and as an employee.
“We have an abundance of intellect and kindness. It’s who we are as Buckeyes. We value diversity in people and in ideas, and consider every perspective. That motivates people to give their best, and it’s what keeps me here at Ohio State.”
