Director of Advancement Finance
Senior Fiscal Officer, The Ohio State University Alumni Association
Mark Beebe sees Ohio State as the land of opportunity, and as Director of Advancement Finance and Senior Fiscal Officer for the Ohio State University Alumni Association, that goes far beyond dollars and cents.
“In my prior career stops everything was about making a profit, which is important, but not as impactful as I thought,” he said. “From getting my MBA, to receiving career opportunities, to understanding what it feels like to make a true difference in someone’s life, to working with some really amazing and talented people, there have been countless opportunities here that made me a better person.”
Mark is focused on integrating Advancement’s financial operations, developing a cohesive, collaborative budget process, and building support for a funding model that supports Advancement’s long term resource needs. Additionally, he maintains financial responsibility for the Alumni Association -- a separate 501(c)(3) organization -- including cash flow, asset management, audit oversight and financial reporting.
Before becoming the first Director of Advancement Finance in 2013, Mark served in multiple roles at the alumni association for five years. Prior to joining the Ohio State family, he moved to Columbus for work in the private sector and has remained here for over 20 years. In that time, Mark finished the Executive MBA program at Fisher College of Business and added Ohio State alumnus to his list of accomplishments in 2010.
“When others asked if I graduated from Ohio State and I could finally say ‘I did,’” he recalled. “To have the dual connection, as an alum and a staff member, is really special.”
He knows that his favorite part about working at Ohio State may surprise some people.
“Seeing all the change and how far we have come, as well as where we can go, is the best part,” he said. “Change may seem odd as a favorite part, but it makes me think in new and challenging ways as to how we can make this a better place. As we look forward, the opportunities are endless, which is incredibly exciting.”
Mark holds bachelor degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He resides in Upper Arlington with his wife, Chrystin, and two daughters.
