February 2026 – Ohio State’s Office of External Affairs team, launched in September 2025, is working together more closely under a new structure. This evolution reflects Senior Vice President Michael Eicher’s plans to align external affairs’ operations under a shared vision for the vitality of the university and medical center. Alongside existing development and alumni association staff, Eicher now leads the Office of Marketing and the Office of Government Affairs.
“Buckeyes travel many pathways to and from our campuses,” Eicher said. “The Office of External Affairs provides a primary entry point to Ohio State that makes it easy for our audiences to find information, understand university priorities, get involved and invest in what matters most to them.”
Through coordinated efforts in relationship development and reputation management, the Office of External Affairs focuses outward-facing work on propelling Ohio State forward, while sharing our Buckeye story and value with the world. By connecting alumni, grateful patients, donors, policymakers, public officials, industry leaders and community partners, the team fosters trust and collaboration to create lasting benefits for society.
“As always, people are at the center of all we do,” said Eicher. “Our dedicated staff members across the Office of External Affairs are committed to making and strengthening connections. Together, we amplify Ohio State’s impact as a leader in education, health care, research and innovation, across Ohio and around the globe.”
