The Assistant Director of Development for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) develops and implements short- and long-term plans to secure leadership annual gifts and major gifts from alumni, friends, volunteers and entities in support of the college’s and university’s missions, objectives and priorities as set by the unit directors, college dean and development’s senior vice president. Located on the Wooster campus, the focus of the position is to build a pipeline of major gift prospects in northeast Ohio and assist with building an annual giving program. The position functions as an internal liaison with the OSU Shale Extension Program, ATI and Plant Pathology. There will also be an opportunity to create a reunion giving program and parents giving program. The successful individual in this position will have the proven ability to make a large number of cold calls and personal visits to cultivate prospects, moving them along the prospect continuum to eventually secure major gifts.

As a member of Interactive Communications within University Advancement, the ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and expertise programming web sites/applications on an open-source technology stack (PHP/LAMP preferred). This position plays a key role creating, delivering and maintaining high-level web projects —including responsive/mobile web— focused on the end-user, within a fast-moving creative environment. A problem solver and critical thinker with an eye for detail and a willingness to dissect, debug and solve diverse programming challenges. Is nimble and flexible, able to work across a variety of web projects, code structures, and deadlines while remaining current with emerging technologies and best practices. Melds back-end systems with the front-end technologies to create rich, dynamic user experiences.
